Richard Estes

The work of photo realist Richard Estes is very architectural and structured.
I've liked Estes' work for some time now, and i think that while looking at
architecture is an appropriate time to look furtherer into it.

First Hand Reaserch

The KFC in Manvers is a recent building, and thus has elements of modern architecture, but it is very square and angular, unlike many modern buildings.
This recently built school in Wombwell vaguely resembles Zaha Hadid's 'MAXXI' in Rome, but again, looks verry angular and boxy, unimaginative.
Dearne Valley College in Manvers has a feature on the top that appears to be a classical feature, but the building itself is quite modern. This links directly into what i'm looking to do with this project.

The 'Next' building in Manvers is an example of a modern factory building, the blue against the grey contrasts nicely and makes it easier to look at.
These shops in Mavers stand out due to the bright colours and bizarre shapes used, Zaha Hadid uses some of the same feature when designing her buildings.
This window structure on a fire caught my eye, i like the use of large windows on a building.

I have begun to look extensively into Parisian architecture as a medium of inspiration. I am enthralled by the use of well crafted and intricate structures that make up a Parisian building.

These buildings have so much majesty and grandeur, they appear to be the stuff of fairy tales.
They have quality of being so over-the-top, they're acceptable. Modern architecture can relate vastly with this in that architecture is now back at the point where surreal is indeed real.
Notre Dame is by far my favourite classical building, it's grand, again, over the top features make it something you could truly spend hours admiring.
The Alexander III bridge is among Paris' most spectacularly decorated pieces of architecture adorned with fine sculpture, it sits proudly amidst the rest of Paris.

The MAXXI in Rome (Designed by Hadid) is a nice example of modern architecture blending in with more classical surroundings.

It's interior (Left) shows simple colours and structures paired together with arches (a classical feature) to make an effective design.

I've started looking at Parisisan Architecture as an ifnfluence of more classical designs.
I'm looking at the work of Zaha Hadid in the hopes to make a model of a building based around modern architecture with elements of classical architecture.
